Mugdha Kalra is an award winning Indian media professional and content strategist with experience of over two decades in broadcast journalism. She specializes in business journalism, gender narratives and diversity, equity & inclusion. She spent 14 years as a prime time anchor in the live newsrooms of Aaj Tak, Zee News, NDTV India and IBN7 . The last decade has seen her anchoring special programming episodes with Network18 where she handles subjects related with corporate narratives, start ups, business stories, education, sustainability and climate change.

She has been named by the BBC as one of the top 100 most inspiring and influential women in the world for the year 2021, alongside the likes of Malala Yousafzai, philanthropist and businesswoman Melinda French Gates and acclaimed Nigerian author and feminist icon Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. This recognition comes for her work as an inclusion activist. Her area of work is neurodiversity and she is co-founder of the movement ‘Not That Different’.

Mugdha’s expertise spans across screenplay and feature writing, content strategy, and social media curation. Additionally, she excels as a documentary writer, with her work showcased on platforms like Netflix and Audible. Her focus lies particularly in defense documentary writing and she is one of India’s top woman army- history writers. She has penned four seasons of the esteemed series “The Regiment Diaries”, spotlighting the Indian Army on Netflix and has also written the first runners up at the Dada Saheb Phalke Award in short documentary section, a film on 75 years of the National Defence Academy.

At the core of her heart, remains Autism activism as she shares her journey and learnings from raising her son on the Autism spectrum. Not That Different has been designed as a children led movement for accepting and embracing neurodiversity- with a first of its kind comic book on autism.

She is a corporate trainer & writer on Diversity & Inclusion and among the first few in the country foraying in the space of Disability, Self Advocacy & Caregiver Inclusion at the workplace. She has also extensively reported on women in Indian Corporates via her series ‘Dear India Inc’.

As a member of the Financial Literacy Council of Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, (WICCI), Mugdha has been curating content on financial freedom for women and collaborating with platforms like Shethepeople, Mentormyboard, Lean in and the Leap Club for women entrepreneurs. Gender and intersectionality are also subjects close to her heart.
